Getting started
Steps and Discovery Markers
How you earn Steps, what 108 of them earn you, and how Streaks fit in.
Steps are how FMRX keeps track of the walking you do. You earn them by showing up: writing a journal entry, noting your mood in the morning or evening, logging a life event, and a handful of other things you do inside the app. Different actions earn different amounts. A real journal entry earns more than a quick check-in, because that's where the value is.
108 Steps is one Discovery Marker
Every time you cross another 108 Steps, you earn a Discovery Marker. Markers are the insights you collect along the way. Each one is written for your chart, not a generic line that could belong to anyone. They're the reward, and they're meant to be worth reading.
A new Marker is placed into a Zone on your Trail: today's, or the next one with room. Walk far enough, then tap it on the Map to collect it.
How Streaks fit in
Your Streak counts consecutive days you actually walked. A day counts once you've earned enough Steps on it, so opening the app and closing it again doesn't extend it. It's a record of rhythm, not a leaderboard. Miss a day and the count starts over, and that's fine. Most seasons have a quiet day or two in them.
A note on volume
FMRX is built to reward depth over frequency. One honest entry tends to earn more, and mean more, than several written to hit a number. If you notice you're writing for Steps rather than for yourself, that's a reasonable moment to slow down. The Steps will still be there tomorrow.
